Sorry for the slow response, I was at the Philly Folk Fest for awhile.

It costs me about $600 to paint the van. That included the spray guns, etc. In hindsight I should have replaced the window rubber the first time and the full rocker panel below the flue, etc. the first time also. I should also have cut out the rust around the rear wheels and welded metal in. Anyway, the rust returned as expected and I re-did part of the left side again this past spring.

If I had to do it again, and actually I probably will sooner than later, I would put more coats on since I'm doing it outside and it requires allot more buffing than if it was inside. There's not enough paint on there to buff down to a nice shine. The van actually looks pretty much the way it did before I painted it. :) I did pretty well in terms of overspray, etc. Anyway, it was fun and a great learning experience. I have all the tools now and am armed with allot more knowledge so I'll probably have another go soon if not to just do parts that were burned through during the buffing or the rust over the rear wheels.

IIRC, Bryan Feddish did his own DIY paint job. There's a video of it on youtube. It may include costs?

Bryan what was the total cost for paint, tool rental etc.?

I realize the OP wants to know what a pro would charge, but this may be an option?

Neil.
