OK, removed the old temp II sensor and it looks NOTHING like my replacement. Now I am completely stumped. The old one has a large shiny round thing on the end about 3/4 inch diameter. The new one has just a shiny golden probe thing about 3/4 in long and 1/4in diameter. Does anyone have a clue what I have and need to do? This was supposed to be a simple quick job! I will have to reinstall the old sensor for now as the new one does not even seal the hole.

The clip slides into place, sideways to the sensor. There should be a little loop sticking out, about 1/2" across. Pull that loop out sideways.

All my screwdrivers are too big, I tried using a slim nail and a small allen wrench. I cannot see the clip, so I don't know how much room I have to insert the tool. I'm also worried that I will either break or bend the clip or it will fly off never to be seen again. Already the sensor seems very loose but the clip is still on there. Is this a standard clip I could find in a hardware store? This would be so easy if the van was up on a lift but its really difficult from above. > > David ('87 Wolfsburg) > > > >
