There are 2 sensors, sort of near each other. Perhaps you pulled the clips to both sensors. The black sensor is for the dash temp gauge. The blue one is the Temp II.

I'm now on my third attempt after giving up twice. I've tried just about every tool in my toolbox to remove the clip. All my screwdrivers are too big, I tried using a slim nail and a small allen wrench. I cannot see the clip, so I don't know how much room I have to insert the tool. I'm also worried that I will either break or bend the clip or it will fly off never to be seen again. Already the sensor seems very loose but the clip is still on there. Is this a standard clip I could find in a hardware store? This would be so easy if the van was up on a lift but its really difficult from above. >> >> David ('87 Wolfsburg) >> >> >> >> >
