Do keep in mind that using this thing inside the van it is the same as using a small unvented heater. It makes some heat, moisture, carbon monoxide and it consumes oxygen. If you plan to use it at night the vehicle should have sensors/alarms for the above and be sure to provide for ventilation.

Not truly Vanagon-related except in a camping/Dometic refrigerator kind of way.

I'm considering getting a Dometic RC2000 portable refrigerator to take on camping trips where getting ice for a cooler is difficult and Mrs Elliott's pillows of fresh salad greens and produce totally overload the little onboard refrigerator.

The RC2000 is smallish, portable, top-loading three-way 120V/12V/propane design like the standard RM182 model found in the Westfalia. On 12V it pulls 7A so its propane fuel consumption is probably about the same as the RM182.

The manual* says that the burner is fitted with a "jet No. 21" suitable for propane at 11 water inches pressure.

It is intended to be connected to a small propane bottle, like the standard 16.4 oz bottle.

Any rough guesses about how long a bottle would run the reefer?
