I have one of these, 1985 Vanagon ASI camper. Possibly the last year ASI modified the Vanagon into a camper. The upper bunk is really not suitable for sleeping, for adults. The platform shifted and I fell out of mine a few years ago. I will not get up there again; it's the lower bunk for me! That being said, it's perfect for the passenger van owner who wants some headroom for camping. I love my Lola, and wouldn't trade her for a Westy ever. The "tent" is made from Polyvinyl; is is truly waterproof (a real plus here in the Pacific Northwest). Ellen ‘Be Content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.
