If I were going to bet, I'd bet on it being a counterfeit part. I suggest getting in touch with Contitech, they might like to know. According to this http://www.contitech.de/conticontact/contact.aspx?continent=north&idland=207&lang=en-US your automotive drive belt contact is named Roger Homer; there's a form to fill in at the above URL that will get it started.
