lol.. oh man ..do I ever make typo's and misspellings.. AND .. you won't see me posting something like 'how much is my van worth' without pertinent information, even if it is typo'd or misspelled. I'll never claim that I can spell for beans, cause ah cain't ...just a part of my brain that isn't good at spelling.

well....I have been in Foreign Car Repair and Consulting for over 30 years continuously. It does not matter what one repairs or modify's so much .. be it tv's,boats, vanagons, etc... One has to be competent and offer good value of course, be honest, and extra skilled at communication .. and .... this is The TrickyPart .. in every case of a professinal repair job ..the Single Most Critical Part is 'how you sell the job.'

And even then ! ..even when you have carefully explained all the risks invovled.. the possble (sometimes unpredictable at the begginning of the job) ways it might not work out as expeted.. that the job changes after you get into it.. that sometiems when the job is complete..then something else shows up that couldn't be seen at first. and 'all that' .. and even when people say 'yes, I understand that, I understand what we' re getting into' .. even when they say that 5 times.. some percentage of people are jerks, and will blame and so on. Weeding those people out in the first place is neccessary to success in the repair field.. it's onlya few ..perhaps half a dozen out of a hundred.. and they are always masters at their craft .. these manipulator type people. and yes.. I've been around boats a lot , and boat people .. and one could make the case that more boaters are alchoholics say .. or more boaters tend to be the type to 'blame' .. and it's just like any repair business.. the first thing to watch out for ..be real careful who you take as a client.

Good clients are cooperative, appreciative, trustworthy ..and often pay extra even. I have mainlytype of client. Unfortuanatelya few bad apples ruin things for the generous kind people sometimes.

and yes ...while I mayspell horribly .. and make typo's , people may notice I go to extra lengths to be well-understandable. That's only considerate in my world..like that would be 'normal.'

oh ..very important in business...... especially the repair business in general .....if a business is not firing some customers. .. the difficult complainymanipulative ones ..they're going to be in trouble.

in Sausalito Ca. .a boat place if there everwas one, I estimate I did about 7,000 professional car repair jobs in 13 years there. .jags, toyota's , Nissans, Honda, Benz, maserati even ...'everything' ..brakes, timing belts, head jobs, engine jobs etc. Some of those peolpe.. some of the boat owners too, specificallytargeted me since I am such a nice friendly guy that doesn't even charge enough. Without exagerating at all .....I can say I undercharged .. and got conned and ripped of to the tune of perhaps agood $100,000 in 13 years. I also made a lot of honest people very happy about their cars.. had so much business it was overwhelming .. and grossed a hundred grand ia yearin a funkylittle shopworking mainly by myself . If karma counts.. I'm in good shapeall right. And I'm getting to where I don't have to work full time much anymore .. and I prefer a low cost modest lifestyle. many people would not know this about me .. my real work is in what I call Emotional Health, Communication, Relationships, the man-woman dynamic, and total non-violence in every sense of the word for humans. lol..I need to push myself to finish up some big projects ....and it's so fun doing 'the people' stuff now, that it's hard to do hands-on enginestuff lately. Just gotta push through this last engine/van phase.

And there is great opportunity for someone to take what I have built up vanagon-wise and take it further. Can include consulting and training , though if I'minvoked that way ...hard working, very smart, optimistic people only please.

if anyone is interested in 'this whole other world' I do .....and would like to know what organizations I study and participate with and all that.. like anything to do with the people/communication/man-woman interface thing/non-violence thing ....pmail me. I have thousands of hours, litteraly, invested in studying all that, going back over 3 decades. I do put a far-ranging package of 'emtional health technologies' together that I promise you won't find anywhere else in one person. Warning though .. I maymisspell !!

lol..nice to see your thoughts ! oh Bill .. you're so funny !!

smiles, to all, Scott
