So, that's very cool!

Not having the skills to do metalwork I did something similar (in that I used the ash try area as a mount point).

Using wood I build a mock up of a mini dash display with a 10" android tablet. It pops in and out with ease.

I'll have to take pics and post but it acts as my set of gauges (bostig swap), gps, and music station :-)
