This is exactly why I run liability only on everything that's paid for, even
cars that are worth well over 10K.

Karl makes a great point. How many years of no-claims bonus do you have?
Do you have any clause in your insurance that will protect your premium
from going up because of the claim?
If it is $2000 to fix, and $500 deductible, then are you going to pay more
that $1500 in increased premium over the next 3 years.
Man I hate insurance. Maybe you got the "uninsured deer protection" plan -
they don't offer that here.
