Wow... these words strung loosely together by you are not saying anything to me, I have to read them... But to answer your question, no I don't read newspapers or car magazines. Well I will look at the head lines as I walk by & if it really interests me I'll look that story up on-line. I did read a copy of Rolling Stone cover to cover the other day (just to see if I could). As a matter of fact I check out 3 or 4 new sources on line most every day and none of them mention the DEF I see at the truck stop for $2.79 a gallon. If I needed DEF I'm sure I'd have heard about it, or I would have asked a email list of knowledgeable people what it was... my guess was diesel exhaust fluid and I don't have a diesel right now...

There are no dumb questions.

I'm willing to bet if your VW needs DEF you are aware of it, maybe not if someone else installed the diesel in your Vanagon (vanagon content) but you could always go to the TDI-conversion list & ask them. ( http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TDI-conversion/info )
