David, In a pinch once I used FI hose for one of those. Don't. The coolant didn't bother it, but in a year the heat baked it hard.

From an independent auto shop, I got "5/16 inch (8.0mm) premium heater hose made in the USA by the Gates corporation." 67 cents a foot! Also works for all those little hoses to the perimeter pipe.
