RE: Big RV Parks I've stayed at several of the "Park Your Whale Here" RV parks with mixed results. The amenities can make them attractive. And some of the smaller RV parks around smaller towns can be a nice and very personal experience. But the best story I can tell is about pulling into an RV park in Yuma one January. Gaurd at the gate, office 1/4 mile to the back past a million dollars worth of land yachts there for the winter. Went into the office and asked if they had a place to park for the night. The lady immediately asked "Are you self contained?" and I said yes, I was. She then asked if I could connect to their sewer system and I said no, I was self contained. And then was told I couldn't stay there unless I could hook into their sewer system. You can imagine the questions that were then exchanged: "Why did you ask if I was self contained?" etc. Nothing resolved I moved on.
