Had to install new headlamp adjusters. Of course, I ordered only the top two as the bottom one looked fine. But I had to remove the entire headlamp to get at the top two and the bottom adjuster crumbled so it looks like I'll have to pay another $7.50 shipping for one more adjuster. Anyway, in removing the headlamp, one of the plastic prongs that secures the socket to the headlamp broke. Why oh why anyone would use plastic for these things is beyond me. What do I do now, do I need a complete new socket?. Is there any way to fit regular 6504 sealed beam headlamp units or does the Vanagon use proprietary lamps and sockets? It looks like the headlamp mounting is affixed to the headlamp unit and the socket is different to the socket on a 6504 sealed-beam. Any advice appreciated. My van has been off the road so long, the battery has now gone flat.
