Deb Downs of the world. I'm in the middle of an ALH mTDI swap...made even more interesting by my desire to swap from manual to auto. I'm currently projecting to have about $3500 into the entire project, including re-gearing to a 3.27 R&P. I'm always baffled as to why the focus is solely on fuel mileage and not on torque, drive-ability, simplicity, reduced flammability, etc. If you don't want a diesel, don't buy one. The rest of us will bear this terrible burden for you.
