I would just use bolts as is done on one side. With bolts in place of studs, if you need to pull a head you can without removing a pipe. M8 X 25 or M8 X 30 will work.

Ok in need the powers if cross reference.

Say I needed to get exhaust studs for a 1985 vanagon and the friendly flaps counter person had a pea brain that did not function with out their parts catalog because they do not speak metric.

Which modern car would you tell them to look up to get a m8 1.25 pitch X 40-50mm exhaust stud?

Please refrain from directing me to our fabulous vendors. It could be to late for that :)
