I have a 39 Ft motorhome that generally weighs in between 28,000 and 29,000 pounds and occasionally pull Fun Bus behind it. A Cat C7 makes it go and an exhaust brake helps it slow down. Even moderately aggressive stops can make the brakes smoke. When I took the road test for it in additional to demonstrating use and testing of the air brakes I also had to demonstrate the exhaust brake. You just can’t rely on friction alone to control sped down long hills.
