Compromises! I really don't know why the factory does the studs on one side.
Studs are nice as the nuts can always be heated or if needed cut to remove
usually leaving the studs intact. The bolts can sieve in the head or worse
react and become one with the flange. I have seen this a lot with stainless
bolts. Drilling them is a real bear! I have also done some exhausts using
high quality bolts and they have also proven to resist corrosion and be
easier to remove. The Lawson "Metri-Torq" has a very good plating and the
bolts heads are higher than standard DIN. Their 8mm washers are also awesome
but ridiculously priced.

there are pluses and minues to both studs or bolts.
What I like about studs is it's easy to get the nut off, especially with
heat, if the nut is rusted or stuck on there., what I don't like about studs
is you can't easily sneak in there and replace the exhaust port gasket.
You can with bolts ...but sometimes the bolts get stuck in the head, and
that gets a little nervous-feeling, gettting those out sometimes.
stock-original is ...like from the factory ..
each head has studs on one end, and takes bolts on the other end, I believe.
fwiw.
