Thanks for the brainstorming! Keep it coming!

FI seals are all good. Brand new seals and I was careful about the install of the Sorensen FI's.

I rechecked the timing, all good.

I adjusted the idle up before I drove home from work (commute is about 27 miles). I believe the "engine dying at stoplight" syndrome is corrected.

Vacuum leaks as a result of bumps in the road I like (the idea as a culprit). I have new intake manifold hoses ( the four shorties), but I don't have clamps on them. Thinking about that, though I don't see any possible leakage, tight fit.

I'm going to change my square, plastic pre-filter to the fuel pump tomorrow (I do this at every oil change, anyway) so I can reduce the likely-hood of any fuel pump starvation. I also have the post-pump filter (new fuel tank ready for install, as I suspect (the installed, old tank) as a contributor to these issues, possibly (I got the larger (11mm/12mm) exit nipple on the new tank for assured, better fuel flow).

I'm most intrigued about the "bucking" when going over RR tracks and rough pavement (lot of rough pavement on suburban streets and four-lanes in the Chicago suburbs). This phenomenon occurred before my FI switch, so I believe it's unrelated to the new FI's. I didn't "slap" the dash, jiggle the keys, etc., but will do that tomorrow. I checked the grounds and they're all good (I recently removed, cleaned, and re-attached them - bucking occurred before and after).

I did, however, slightly jiggle the ECU connector this evening. I got a lot of response out of the engine when I did this (engine died and/or changed idle, etc. when I modestly jiggled the ECU connector).

Should the ECU connector be that sensitive to touch? That's the question right now.

Heading to Bus Boo this weekend (VW Bus and Vanagon event and campout) just north of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Saturday am), so would like to have the engine running dependably. Don't anticipate a total breakdown, but would like to overcome these weaknesses. I do have AAA Premier RV.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and possible root causes and corrective actions!
