it likely will be if the original poster has a 2.1 distributor,
and I'm pretty sure Paul is using a 1.9 ignition system and distributor
in his 85 Vanagon,
and thus the plug won't be quite the same..
close but not the sameas what a jetta/golf would have.
if if you 'just had to' you could file off an indexing mark and make it
work.
I believe that would work.
