Taiwan has been the world's toolmaker for years now. I think almost all Craftsman, Durlast and many other tools we consider middle-upper tier tools have been made there for a while.

Also, the Chinese know how to make anything they want to. They send us what we contract them to do for us. Look at HF junk and iPhones and such and you will grasp the range of what is available from that country.
