The other primary cause being alternator wiring gone rotten? Or?

I'm halfway through undressing the top of my engine and have a fuel line kit that I will install when I dress it up again. I'd like to check all the electrical connections in there as well. Are there any common points of failure? (I'm also mildly concerned about breaking things while I inspect them - the connector to the rotor was in terrible condition - there is a very liberal use of zip ties in my engine, including one holding a fuel injector's wire in place - 30 year old plastic tabs not holiding out)
