It's been many moons now, but I remember needing to completely disassemble the entire distributor when I swapped in a Hall sender from a Volvo 740, due to the fact that my external plastic connector was broken off, causing intermittent running issues. I pressed out the roll pin in the base of the drive and pulled the whole shaft in order to remove the assembly. Perhaps I overcomplicated things, but that's what I did. Near as I can tell, most four cylinder Bosch Hall units from that era will drop right in
