Subject: Distributor swap - 2.1L
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

As mentioned in an earlier post - I think I have a Hall sensor problem.

At the moment - given my circumstances - it appears the easiest way to confirm this would be to swap out the distributor for a known good one with a known good Hall Sensor.

Distributor with suspect Hall sensor is on an '88 GL. The other distributor known to me to be good is on a '91 Carat that is in a state of refurbishment - not the engine - but the van. Thd engine runs fine - just the van can't be driven.

Is there anything I should be particularly mindful off in doing this swap. How about timing issues. Any tricks to going from one engine to the other without upsetting the timing terribly bad - or is re-timing the engine just going to be part of the game?

Thanks for any suggestions.

John
