Leave the timing clamp tight on the distributor. Remove the 13mm headed nut that holds the clamp down to the block. Then pull the distributor up and out of the block with the clamp as a unit. That way you won't have to adjust the timing.

You will need to remove the distributor cap so you can rotate the shaft during reinsertion. The shaft end is keyed and you need to get the key lined up and fully seated.
