I grew up a couple miles from that house. It's on a major avenue, across from the high school football field even. I must have past by 1,000s of times, never had a clue to its' significance. It was obvious that whoever lived there abhorred the typical ultra-high maintenance landscaping preferred by 99.5% of the other residents. A couple years ago my mother went on one of Mr. Cardasis' tours, and I in turn was enlightened. James Rose was a pretty interesting guy and it turns out - a Westie owner on top of it!

The local VW shop mentioned had to be Roe Motors, a great father/son operation. But they lost their lease and the land lord built a mini strip mall containing a convenience store, dry cleaners, and pizza place (just what we needed!).

Props to the NY Times, they seem to do an article on VW campers and vans every year or two.

Thanks for sharing Tom.
