I know that there has been a bit of discourse over whether anti seize
affects torque values. I'm of the school of thought that believes it does.
When I worked for Atlantic Richfield, we had specific company rules
surrounding the use of anti seize. That may be a more tedious conversation
than necessary, but, in short, I think that using it will complicate what
is a pretty simple process and likely generate a 'best lubricant' like
debate.
I use a tiny drop of medium strength loctite, but really don't know how
effective this is, as the cv grease generally infiltrates everything in the
area. Then I torque to 33 ft lbs and call it good. I do frequently check
these bolts for any looseness during the first several hundred miles. I've
done several dozen of these and finding a loose one has been very rare. I
always switch the allen bolts for the triple square. When removing, I spray
all bolts with penetrant, clean the recesses and blow with compressed air,
then fit the triple square onto the the bolt head and give it a couple of
whacks with my 5 lb sledge. This causes the threads to release. Once ready
to remove the bolt, I apply force gently, never jerking. Once loose, I use
the air ratchet.
Good luck,
Miguel
