Hopefully you didn't damage anything without adequate coolant. I think
you are lucky to have an inline motor in this situation, as I understand
from my reading here, that WBX motors won't take running short of coolant.
If you get this post and are still driving, you may want to get a bottle
or can of radiator stop leak of some sort before heading into the mountains
or the big city...and keep your water jugs full. If you find you are
losing coolant still, try some of the stop leak, it will help till you get
home...I drove my Van with a 1.8liter inline and a leaky head from Oregon
to California and back without much problem, topping up the radiator about
every other tank of fuel..and then I fixed the engine at home later with
no dire consequences.... after driving it leaking for 3000+ hard miles...
