Thanks, Frank & Eric. I didn't realize you guys are on 110V way up north. Pardon my ignorance.

I found someone selling the heating element from a Dometic fridge. Now comes the fun part. Someone local is giving away a partially disassembled Westy fridge. If I get it, my problem will be solved for very little $.

Cheers,

BenT sent from my 220V fridge

That's what I have down with the 220v Electolux fridge I have in my Westy that I brought back from Germany a few years ago. If you can find the 110v replacement heating element that could be neater but you need to find it. The converters are easy to locate. > > >> On 2013-10-08, at 10:11 PM, Automatic digest processor <LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> wrote: >> >> His all, >> >> I had this truck camper from a Landrover which I decided to scrap instead of adapting to my Doka. Saved most of the camping equipment including the Electrolux fridge. The problem is it uses 220V instead of 110V. So unless you're Canadian and want to buy this off me, I need assistance in converting this to 110V. As far as I know, the heating element would be what needs replacement. Assuming this is an ammonia fridge like those found in Westies. Thought about just installing a step-up transformer or DC converter but replacing the element will make CDO (in alphabetical order) person in me happier. >> >> What would be even better is recycling Westy heating element to use in this unit. Electrolux is Dometic too, right? >> >> Help! Or buy this from me and put me out of my misery. Pics via pmail. Finished dimensions 24" high by 19" wide. Forget to measure depth.
