Don't see how the "snuggies" would work. They sit along the fixed/rigid
arm. Any pressure/bending this spring puts on the arm is relieved by the
tilt up pivot.
Have you tried just changing the arc of the rigid wiper arm? Having the
arm more concave to the windshield would put a little more tension into the
spring and therefore press the blade down a little more.
Does the arm have the factory "wing" to increase pressure on the arm while
driving at speed? That's probably why VW put it there.
