Right. Was recalling my Motronic ECU while composing my reply.

I may be misunderstanding, but if you're thinking of connecting a brown/white from ECU to chassis, that doesn't sound correct.

The ECU will need a constant ground that it would use to supply grounds as needed to various components connected to it.

I see a brown/white ECU 28 to several things. It looks like its a "supplied ground" switched inside ECU.
