I did the same, replacing a ’77 Westy which is still the vehicle I miss most of all the ones I’ve ever had and then sold. Then again, now that there are five of us, the ’77 would have been impractical anyway. We make full use of the fridge (which is far superior to the ‘77’s fridge), and it had enough room to add a Carat jump seat for our third child. On the other hand I sorely miss the gas heater in my ’77, which was amazing for camping on chilly nights (or even driving to work in the winter, as you got instant very-hot heat without having to wait for the engine to warm up). Frankly I’d trade that gas heater for the Vanagon’s A/C in a heartbeat.
