Hmm, I've not found a collector car insurance company in the US that will do a policy on a camper at all. Who are you applying with? Qualifying is usually based on the vehicle age, it must be stored in a garage and driven limited miles each year to qualify. A radio upgrade shouldn't make any difference, at least it didn't with Hagerty on my MGBs.

Alloall I am applying for a collector's status for my 1986 Westfalia ( so that insurance premiums will only be 300$ per year) here in BC and I need to provide all kind of pictures ...and one needs to be the radio. Unfortunately and or fortunately, the radio has been upgraded and that could disqualify the van. Could someone provide me with a picture of the original radio (or similar) and tell me if those radios were also found on other VW cars from this era...I looked on Google but could not find anything... Thanks in advance Alain Westy 1986
