yes, this is true of the Pilot Brg in the end of the chankshaft/flywheel. Once in gear ...that bearing is not turning.

however...the input shaft bearing on the transmission input shaft is always turning , unless the clutch is held in, van not moving. Idling in neutral .. or driving down the road .. the input shaft bearing just inward from the bell housing is turning .. it is also driving, by a gear, full time ..the Pinion Shaft assembly and bearing/s there. also .....the poster who changed just the input shaft bearing by removing the bell housing and using what I call a 'blind hole bearing puller' ( that's like a tool with narrow fingers that will reach down over a shaft.. and grab the bearing cage and rollers and pull it out ) ..

if that helps the transmission ...fine.......buys you some time. And, by the time any bearing starts failing.. it's not like all the other bearings are just fine. especially.

also ....the metal that gets into the gear oil ..from syncronizers where, and bearings wearing .. that metal in turn increases wear .. which is why gear oil needs to be changed. Just left to wear ...it starts to harm itself ... from the normal-wear, and normally occurring metal particles doing more damage.
