Don't splice it yet. Run an additional wire temporarily not even in the harness to verify that the splice fix will work, then do it right, once. Run a new, properly coded wire instead of the splicey-dicey easy fix that can leave you in the smoke again. Pensionerd. Phlogisitics rules. Everything in the car runs on smoke. When the smoke escapes from the wires, lotsa stuff just quits working.
