I had similar problems on a Ford pickup that I was fixing for a friend.

Several days of aggravation and quarts of fluid later and I realized I had put the calipers on the wrong sides of the front. Meaning that the bleeders were lower than the top of the calipers, allowing air to stay in the top of that piece.

I don't know if you replaced those or not, but that ruined a day or two for me.
