Interesting. I guess they work fine for the years/installation that use two separate evaporator fans. My '86 Westy has a single, dual shaft motor with twin squirrel cages. Not the same creature at all, and the front blower is very different. There are aftermarket universal motors for the earlier systems like mine, however, that will work with the same blower cages and housings..

Keith Hughes '86 Westy Tiico (Marvin) ------------------------------ Date:    Mon, 4 Nov 2013 20:13:43 -0700 From:    Finn Runyon <finnrunyon@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Rear AC Blower As some of you know I recently tore the rear closet, AC and AC plenum = out thinking I might install a propex in the rear closet.  Ultimately I = installed it under the rear bench to the left of the oem rear heater, = but took it upon myself to tighten everything up back there and replace = a rear AC blower that had failed.  Ron from the Bus Depot assured me = that the front blower would work with several modifications, splicing = the old connector and drilling two holes to mount it.  A salesperson = from Van Cafe said that there was absolutely no replacement and that = would work and that I would have to find a used blower.Ken Wilford got = back to me and said he had good used blowers and could order the OEM = from Germany and it would take several weeks.  Given the enormity of the = job to pull the rear of the van apart, I was not comfortable replacing = it with a used part, and took a chance that the front blower would work. = Given that we had a camping trip planned last weekend, and a van in = pieces I ordered a febi/blistein blower from a third vendor who could = get it to me usp ground in two days.  All this to say that the blower = works perfectly.  I did not have to cut and splice the connector and = only had to drill two holes in the housing to secure the blower. It is = an exact replacement for the rear AC blower.  There are other = manufacturers of this part, Meyle among them that may need additional = modifications, but the Febi/Bilstein is a perfect replacement. My and other's experience. Yep, this is the usage I experience with my HS2800, which makes sense as the efficiency is probably similar.  The duty cycle would be lower on the 2800 of course. I certainly appreciate the heater, but the girlfriend absolutely loves it. Well, I think I made the first "fleece thermal barrier" a few years back.  Version two: http://jones.colorado.edu/VW/FleeceBarrier Such a slight layer makes a HUGE difference in the effectiveness of the Propex.  I wouldn't think of NOT using it if I thought I'd kick on the Propex in the morning.  I sleep in a warm bag and only turn on the furnace a while before getting up in the morning. Of course I don't use the fleece barrier if I have grandsons sleeping upstairs....  ;-) And just believe Karl's numbers on Propex propane use.  I wondered last year if my tank would ever empty running the Propex and the stove.  Feeling how little heat comes out the Propex exhaust indicates how efficient it is.
