HI John,
that stuff does not seem like PVC to me.
GoWesty sells a pipe repair end kit.  I've never seen one, and have
heard mixed reviews.

I should try this sometime...
if it was me and my van ..I might try heating the end of the plastic
pipe with a heat gun ...
with the idea of getting the metal insert back in all the way where it
belongs..
where I'd use an epoxy to keep it there.

I also get the hose as far as I can down over the plastic part, and use
two clamps there.
