Nickel based tends to work better at high temperatures. Most sensor come with the threads pre-treated. The real trick is to make sure that it is only on the threads and that none of it gets into the exhaust including the burn off of the carrier oil. Once any of the metallic stuff gets inside the sensor can be damaged. Your shorting out the battery. Same applies for using metal stuff or sealants that do not belong anywhere in the exhaust stream.

Once the sensor starts to fail the catalyst is not far behind.

I have gone thru the archives on how to keep my new O2 sensor from rusting to the manifold & only see threads(pun intended) about using a special anti seize made for that & in another calling for copper based. Is this correct, & if not what?

YMMV,

Mr. BZ
