Your 1.9 doesn't use and ISV system of course Jack, but you can retrofit one if you 'really' want too.

You may notice some vacuum switching valves near your air filter box ...on the firewall there. Either one, or two. those are assoicated with increasing idle air when needed.. If two valves there..one if for when AC is on .. forget what the other one is for right now. Some 1.9 waterboxers don't have any there ..like manual trans, non AC, non PS .. no valves I think there.

If you are not having any cold or warm idle issues... you don't need any fancy or creative aftermarket electronic circuit for your idle, unless you just like the idea of upgrading to a more evolved system that's electronically controlled.

1.9 waterboxers work just perfectly fine when they are working like they are supposed to.

about all I could ever wish for is a toggle switch that would give me a 'slightly faster idle' on rare occasions when I wanted or needed that. A switch to one of those vacuum valves, if you have any on your van there....would accomplish that nicely. I should try that sometime. Those valves are just switchable air bypass valves ..adding some air around the throttle plate for faster idle or more 'idle air.'
