Similar, if not same as my symptoms. Chased the mysterious demons for years before replacing the ECU. September 3500 mile trip to Seattle and back (Phx) had no issues, along with improved idle, better fuel economy, and much more compliant low RPM power. I'd try the ECU before pulling the dizzy; since you have a parts van, it's easier, too!
