I had a problem with the new replacement horn ring I got from Van Cafe.
It wasn't their fault - and a fix was found.

The problem was - even though it was a new genuine part - the updated
horn ring has a plastic ring with a shoulder that the old ring didn't
have.That shoulder prevented the steering wheel from seating properly.
It was not an obvious thing, and David Beirerl and I spent a good bit of
time back and fourth to figure it out. The final solution was to very
carefully remove the brass piece from the new ring and install it on the
old plastic ring. Problem solved.

Be sure to use just a dab of some dielectric grease as a lubricant for
the brass finger that slides.

It may be that by now the ring with the shoulder thing may be resolved.
