In my case, when I say ‘changes hard’ I mean it changes with a bang. I would take off the pan and take out what I have to, but I haven’t done it yet. I know, I can change a filter but I’m not sure what to do with the valve body once it’s out. Zoltan

Shifts late and/or slowly or Shifts with an abrupt bang I am currently working on an '87 Wolfsburg that has the second symptom about a third of the time when not warmed up. In the past I have had good luck with Seafoam in a Cherokee that would not shift at all for about 2 minutes when cold. Changed the fluid first and ran it for a couple of hours, then added the Seafoam and ran it for 30 minutes or so, then changed the fluid again. Saw improvement at each stage and eventually it ran normally. YMMV Good luck, Larry A.
