Lots of discussion on The Samba about the dozen or so Vanagons stolen around
here recently, and that prompted me to do a Google search.  I turned up this
amazing story from a couple of years ago:

It seems that most of the recent thefts have been recovered in much better
shape.  I hope this fellow got a few hundred for the drivetrain for all his
trouble!
