Extremely sad to see this Loren !!
and ....it sure does feel like we've been reading 'X type of Vanagon
stolen in the Seattle area' ..a LOT this year.
I'd be curious it it's a high rate of theft for all cars ...
or just vanagons, there.
It's certainly easy to think that perhaps these stolen vanagons are
done by a group of people ..or just one or two people that have a thing
about vanagons.
Can anyone afford a private investigator ?? I can't imagine the
police would make it a high priority to work on this repeating vangon
theft thing. If anyone wants to do a group effort, I will contribute.

disturbed younger vanagon owners I know are making ludicrous just
silly-exaggerated claims and seeking huge funds that are vastly out of
proportion to anything remotely reasonable. It's just a money-grab
scam. I have 5 lawyers to interview Monday ! We can't let the
manipulators and bad guys take advantage of us. >

I'd be talking to lots of people Monday morning ..anyone who might be
able to do something. I imagine huge sums could dissappear with a
private investator .

HOW are these vanagons getting stolen ?
window broken then rip the ignition lock out , ......or ?
and why not use those locking things that connect the steering wheel to
the brake pedal ...? Can't hurt.

my favorite anti-theft system is one where the car goes a mile or so,
then quits, and locks the doors to the perps are trapped in the car
until the cops arrive.
I think I'd check how much a LoJac is. ..or some tracking system.
Let's have a group purchase on vanagon tracking systems.
