well .....one surfire way, not practical to do is fill the van up with
basketballs until no more will fit.
Then calculate what volume each one takes up ..
get your number that way.
but why don't you this ...........this can come very, very close.
Divide the up into cubit rectangles for each area..
say rear main area is whatever....5 X 5 X 6 feet
figure that volume by multiplying those #'s .
then do that for each area ..over the engine .....front seat area ...
add those all up ..then add a fudge factor for what you missed ..
you'll be very very close..with in less than 10 % off I bet.
here's how well this method can work :
I was on an airplane flying to Hawaii. Once into the flight they said
there was a contest to see who could name the midpoint time of the
flight . It's a 6 hour flight or so.
I had the take-off time...the captain had announced the expected time
in route..
I took half of that .added it to the departure time..
and added ( or could have subtracted, but I chose to add ) a 10 minute
fudge factor.
I nailed it. I was within one minute or two of the exact mid-point time
and won the contest ...a small can of macadamia nuts !
woo-hoo.
I suggest you take zero chances on oxygen supply while sleeping in any
small space..
people die from that all the time.
And if you wake up dead from lack of 02 or from CO poisoning...that's
not good.
