Simpson?, Triplett?, HP? these D'arsonval moving-coil meters have some features not found on the digital Communist China imports available at your local purveyor of Harbor Junk.

To measure slowly varying voltages or currents, you can watch the variation, in real time, by following the needle. Impossible with CC digitals. Now there are wireless really fancy really useful meters that can measure remotely. You set it up with the clip on probes in the sender in the engine compartment, and read the results at the BlauTooth meter a short distance away, say the cab.

For waveform examination you still need a "picoscope" or equivalent. Sampled data is a whole 'nother problem.

Donate the old meter to the old geezer or just keep it. The Triplett 310C is a classic, rivalled only by your venerable vehicle.
