Eric, I use regular, 87 octane gasoline in my '91 camper with original waterboxer engine. However, when I can get it, I buy ethanol free fuel. When I first got the beast, I used premium fuel when traveling to high altitudes because the owner's book says use minimum 87 octane, and the regular sold at higher elevations is lower octane, compensating for the lower oxygen availability due to lower atmospheric pressure. But, I found that it ran fine on 85 octane once when I was in northern Arizona at an out of the way place with ONLY 85 octane stuff available, at an elevation of around 7,000 feet. Since then, I just use whatever the local regular grade is.
My owner's manual says do not use additives. It also says to avoid gasoline with alcohol in it. I get better gas mileage with ethanol free fuel. Here is a link to a site that lists sources for alcohol free gasoline: http://pure-gas.org/
I believe the additive you mentioned is intended for use in gasoline that will be stored for a while to prevent it from becoming "stale" due to evaporation of the most volatile fraction. I don't know what benefit it would provide for gasoline that is being consumed while fresh.

So other then higher cost per gallon would I have a healthier engine, more power, and or better gas mileage running premium gas? Is there any harm in running it?
