Subject: Re: Bostig Oil Level Warning Light Circuit

Date:    Fri, 20 Dec 2013 20:16:54 -0600 From:    Jarrett Kupcinski <kupcinski@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Bostig Oil Level Warning Light Circuit The Bostig HC Oilpan comes with a low level float which triggers an = indicator light when the circuit is closed. Unfortunately, the float is = fairly sensitive, and closes the circuit on rapid acceleration and hard = turns, thus causing the light to flicker briefly. I'd like to eliminate = this false indication of low oil level by building a circuit which = causes the warning light to illuminate only after the circuit closes AND = remains closed for a few seconds. This is a known issue with Bostig and while it's not intolerable as is, = I'd like to fix it. I'd appreciate any help on the best way to design = this circuit. I've included a basic circuit diagram of the existing = circuit here: = http://kpcnsk.tumblr.com/post/70638255838/simplifed-wiring-diagram-of-the-= bostig-oil-level Thanks for your help, Jarrett Kupcinski 89 Bostig'd Westy= You can insert an On-Delay timer into the circuit. Something like this:

http://www.grainger.com/product/AIROTRONICS-Time-Delay-Relay-21EW88?s_pp=false

Set it for the amount of delay time you want to have (continuous float switch activation), and the NO contacts won't "make" until the time has elapsed, and will reset when the float signal goes low again. Should be pretty easy - surprised Bostig hasn't fixed this yet.
