No quick and dirty fix here. Tranny time or use that money as the down payment on another car. Unless doing this yourself don't bother with used. Same age-mileage temporary repair at best.

Son-in-law's 2000 Civic is in my driveway. AT won't shift, makes a noise under acceleration like swishing, belt slipping or something dragging, but only when the pedal is depressed (I won't call it acceleration, as that is the problem). Chilton's manual no help. Seems that it won't downshift from a higher gear, not like it is stuck in first.

Any ideas as to where to start looking and what to look at, email me privately.
