As luck would have it the vendor called back to say that the 15" rims are on back order and it'll be a while. They found four Nokian Hakkapelitta14" tires so that's what I going for unless there is another change. The next time I need tires I'll revisit the options and look closer at 16" & 17" rims.

If willing to invest in new wheels, go right for 16 or 17 inch. Unless your goal is towrds tall off road tires you'll find the choices for 15" tires with adequate load ratings even more limited. 225/60-16 and 225/5-17 are readily available, high perrformnce tires sizes also available in extra load designs. There are a lot of choices for summer, all season, and winter tire options.
